Church of Ireland Hockey Club
Church of Ireland Hockey Club is a mixed hockey club based in Rochestown in the suburbs of Cork City. We have over two hundred regular adult playing members of all ages and abilities in Men’s and Ladies’ sections, and we field six Men’s teams and seven Ladies teams every weekend throughout the season.
The Club can owe its success to its thriving youth section which is led by a former Olympian player, and children are coached weekly in various age groups from 5 years old and upwards.
Our Men’s and Ladies teams compete in every division in Munster hockey and our both 1st and 2nd teams compete in the Irish Senior and Junior Cups. The club has a long established sand based pitch, and installed a state of the art water based Astroturf pitch in 2005, along with an all seated viewing area. This stadium has successfully hosted international matches featuring national senior sides from Canada, Italy and Egypt.
The club currently has four senior male Internationals and one female who represent Ireland on a regular basis. We also have many more former internationals currently playing at all levels. The club has a proud history of having its players represent Ireland with distinction not just at senior level but right up from school boy’s level.
The club was established in 1911 and has won the Irish Senior Cup four times and the Junior Cup on three occasions.
